Residential Treatment
The Residential Program on the Nicholasville Campus of The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth is designed to help male and female adolescents, ages 12-17, many with histories of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and/or family trauma that have resulted in emotional or behavioral problems.
Our Nicholasville Campus is a Child Caring facility, licensed and regulated by the Cabinet for Health Services, Office of Inspector General. Our license allows for Residential Treatment and Emergency Shelter with Treatment. Many of the youth we care for have had multiple placements prior to coming to our program.
Our goal is to address the individual needs of the client and thereby stabilize them to build a better future.Our licensed clinicians work with our youth, their guardians, and involved parents to develop a plan that is designed to achieve success in treatment. Trained Residential Youth Care Workers and Team Leaders provide 24 hour supervision and assist youth in establishing a healthy routine that allows for work on identified treatment goals.

Using techniques from:
- Drug and Alcohol Treatment (KYUMH is a licensed Seven Challenges provider and also utilizes the MET/CBT therapeutic approach to treatment)**
- Family Therapy
- Social Skills Development Group
- Grief and Loss Group Therapy*
- Anger Management Group Therapy*
- Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)**
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)**
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)**
- Play Therapy**
Multi-Disciplinary Team:
Meets weekly to review the progress of each client.
- Licensed Clinical Therapists on site
- Registered Nurse-24 hour access
- Psychiatrist on campus bi-weekly
- Dietician-monthly consults
- Crisis response-24 hour on call for clients
- Chaplain
- Residential Youth Care Workers trained to supervise and provide the care and routine necessary for a safe environment
Family Resources:
- Fuel assistance for visiting parents/guardians
- Overnight accommodations available for visiting parents/guardians (upon request)
